The first assignment for this module is a group work. After we formed a group (mine is Iman, Aisyah, and me) we had to choose a site for us to observe and identify. There are certain requirements for the site; it has to have a vertical transportation system, has to be no more than 20 storey building, and easy for us students to access and observe. based on the requirements, we chose DK Senza. Why? Beacuse it's near Taylor's University so we can go and do observation anytime we want, like after class ends. also because me and Iman are living there so it's more convenient for us.
We had to find at least one major problems at the building. Since we have 3 members in our group, so we decided to do 3 problems.
the problems that we found:
the lighting. the lighting in DK Senza is not stable. when it's in the afternoon it doesn't really make a big probloem, because we still can get natural lighting from the sun. but when it's night, and dark, it becomes uncomfortable and dangerous. people who are walking can fall down or slip (especially at the stairs). also it makes people feel scared and comfortable to walk around the corridor when there's n o enough lighting.
water feature. on the level 7, there's a water fountain near the management office. between the two fountains there's a pathway for people to walk from the elevator, actually that's the only way for people to walk no other choice. so it's really dangerous when the water get splashed to the pathway and no one mop the floor. it can make people who are walking fall nbecause it's slippery, and also if people stepped on the puddle it will become dirty.
noise pollution. there two major noise pollution in dk senza. the first one for the units that are located near the elevators. sometimes when they are used, tenants can hear the sounds of them moving, and it's quite lound and disturbing. the second one is the ceiling between two units. people can hear movements of other people upstairs, running in the corridor, and when they are mloving furnitures.
