ASSIGNMENT 1

Hi! I'm back with another story-telling about my life trying to survive BIA sem 2 :") This post is dedicated for IDP 1, the continuation of Introduction to Interior Design Project back in sem 1. In this semester we are focusing on one chosen artist in Malaysia. We were separated into groups and got Vince Low as our insipiration through out the whole semester; alongside with Alia, Danielle, Janson, Yap, and Chin Ling.
The first assignment we had to make in infographic of the selected artist. for the first step we had to do a 'visual note' about them, then we gonna continue to make the infographic after several tutorials with the lectures.

ASSIGNMENT 2

I decided to go with 'black and white' concept because Vince Low himself doesn't really use colors for his art works. His speciality is 'scribble art', where the artist just use scribbles to draw and he mostly focuses on drawing portraits. it's so cool if you think about it, he almost never make any drafts or base lines for his drawing, he just follows his hands and mind, it's really admirable.
his background story is not the happiest out there, more like he went through a lot of hardships in my opinion. Vince Low has a dyslexia, a state where one has a difficulty in reading fluentyly and accurately. since he was a kid he has been thinking of himself as stupid and never good enough. he went through a phase where he didn't care about anything and ran away to smoking, bullying, and other bad things. until at some point he decided to change and he was really into art, and just few years ago he found out that he's a dyslexic. but it didnt stop him reaching for his dreams, instead he used it as motivation for people who have same fate as him, telling them dyslexia is not a curse, and they can still be successful.

the concept of my infographic board is Vince Low has two-very-different phases in his life. the black one represents his life before he found out about himself and he hated his life; and the white one represents his life after he found out and accepted himself.
i came to these few keywords based on my opinion on his journey:
BLOCKAGE: he has potential all along since he was a kid, but Vince Low himself blocked it resulting him thinking that he is stupid and never good enough
HIDDEN: represents his hidden brilliant potential
CHANGE: he went through a lot of changes in his life, bad or good, and they made him the Vince Low we all know now
MONOCHROME: it's because he mainly uses only pen and plain paper to do his artworks
REDISCOVERY OF CONFIDENCE: he was able to come to love himself after all this time he hates everything.

ASSIGNMENT 3

after we submitted our infographic board to be graded, we moved on to the next assignment. we had to make a portable case suited for the artist to keep his inventories. so it's like 'one in the world only for you'. the requirement is it has to have at least 3 mechanisms, and it has to be inspired from the selected artist. i decided to make a briefcase for Vince Low to carry around his tools (paper rolls, pen, pencils, ink bottles) as well as allowing him to draw outside his studio. so my idea was to make a briefcase so it wouldn't look strange to be carried arond by a late 30S man, that when you opened it you can use it as an easel too, and with compartements to keep the tools. up until this point we had several times of tutorials but it seems the case is not finalized yet so i still keep trying to improve it and make it better.
we also have to make a presentation board about our model. we have to do technical drawings to explain and show the measurement, and also the ergonomics, showing the artis using the portable case, and also the mechanism and step by step on how the item is used.

ASSIGNMENT 4

we also have to make a presentation board about our model. we have to do technical drawings to explain and show the measurement, and also the ergonomics, showing the artis using the portable case, and also the mechanism and step by step on how the item is used.
after that, we have to make a small office/home office created for the artist. but before it we have to choose a space as the site. for mine, i chose a place named Dusun Bambu. its located in Bandung, Indonesia. I chose that place because it's a really nice place with a green enviroment, suitable for the artist to relax and do work.

ASSIGNMENT 5 - FINAL

after we have chosen the site, we have to start to think and arrange the containers. we are given 3 containers with different sizes. the two of them is 12 x 3 x 3 m and the other two is 6 x 3 x 3m. deciding and planning the arrangement n form of the containers is not easy, i went through a lot of changes and thinking to finally come up with my first initial design, even that wasn't enough, it still need to be changed because it is not compact and not built efficiently. also my forms and arrangements are boring and i wasn't using the best from my site. it's not easy to go through all of this but eventually i was able to have final design ghat i used for my final review.
at the end we have to make a model and 2 a0 sized papers as presentation board.
the model is supposed to be all white, and i used modelling board to make it. we have to make it completed with the furnitures inside, scale 1:50, and i also made the context of my site.
apart from the model. the most challenging is to draw the boards. it's huge and took a lot of time to finish it. eventhough it's difficult, but I like it because I like colouring. and this is how my final boards look like.
also we have to include sample board of the materials that we are using inside our container house. i borrowed the materials from the material library because i dont have enough time to go out and search.
this is how my presentation panel look like at the review day. eventhough it's not the best but im happy with what ive done for this 2nd semester.
