HOPPERS CAFE, KL
For this second assignment, we needed to form a group of 5 members. Working together as a group, we did researches on cafes around Kuala Lumpur that has a colonial design and also is a 2 storey-building. Our task for this project is to did a survey and observation on the existing condition of the building structure, different systems of services used at the site, various materials and methods of joining. The next step we proposed several names of cafes to the lecture to get an approval as well to collect a formal letter signed by Taylor’s University. As it wasn’t easy to get permission from cafe owners for measuring and doing observation at their places, our group got rejected quite a lot. Our last option fell on Hoppers Cafe in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur. We spent 2 days at the cafe to measured, observed, and got all the information necessary for our report.
Using all the information and data that we gathered, we had to produce as-built drawing report of the building selected, in a form of A3 drawings following a format given by the lecturers. The report has to include photos, sketches, and several required drawings; plan drawings, sections, elevations, specifications, and detailings of the interior space. Alongside the report, we have to submit online a video of minimum 30 minutes as well.
