IDP FIRST ASSIGNMENT
In this first assignment, the students had to choose a subject, either food or art or fashion or products from Malaysian traditional culture and heritage. My choice was Sago Gula Melaka, as it was delicious and simple to make. From there on the students were to create a mood board, where the feel of the Sago Gula Melaka can be felt whenever people see it. I took the elements to make the dish, whicb are Sago Pearls, Gula Melaka, and Coconut Milk and took some keywords. There are organic, clustered, contrast, and complimentary. I took 'contrast' as the main the keyword to be applied later in my design. Why did I choose contrast? From what I have learned from the making process of this dish, it uses three different main ingredients that have totally opposite consistency.

THE SECOND ASSIGNMENT
This assignment was a group project, where the whole class went to Melaka to do a site visit. The class was divided into several group per categories (food, product, art, fashion) to be assigned for different tasks. I was assigned to the site group, the food category. We were tasked to observe and take notes of the measurements of the building. Also, we were to observe the food culture around Melaka. At the end, all the information will be used to proceed to the next individual assignments.

THE THIRD AND FINAL ASSIGNMENT
Continuing from the previous site visit, each students proceed with the final project which is to renovate the site in Melaka into a start-up garage which also has the elements from our subject, in my case it was the Sago Gula Melaka. From the previous chosen keyword "contrast" to be applied to the site.
MYTHRAL is a start up garage that adapts the Steampunk style that focuses on Victorian Era and steam engine. Using the steam engine to produce the Sago Gula Melaka dish. MYTHRAL has 3 floors.The first one is Romanticism Victorian, which is a pop-up market. Here I sell the raw ingredients of Sago Gula Melaka, traditional vintage kitchen utensils, and cook books.
It is targeted to the housewives.

The first floor is the Metal Age. On the second floor is the a live processing workshop where the guests can see the making process of each main ingredients of the Sago Gula Melaka. It shows the process from the raw ingredients straight from the nature to the ingredients that are ready to be used. this area is targeted for the younger generation to learn more about Malaysian traditional heritage.

The second floor is Nostalgic Future, a cafe that serves Sago Gula Melaka as the main dish, both the traditional one and the modernised one. The cafe emphasis on the vintage victorian design. There's a live food preparation area where the guests can see their food being made and served to them fresh.

The cafe is targeting both locals and tourists, to make Malaysian traditional dish more well known and aprreciated.

THE STEAM ENGINE is a 13m tall machine that processes the three main ingredients of Sago Gula Melaka; which are Coconut Milk, Sago Pearls, and Gula Melaka itself. It uses steam as the main energy to operate this machine, where water is boiled in the tank located on the bottom part. This tank boils the Sago Pearls where the steam is captured and transfered through the pipes, and used as the energy to thaw the Gula Melaka blocks into a syrup form. As for the Coconut Milk, it is processed by separating the coconut meat and squeeze it to produce the coconut milk. The steam from the boiling will move the wheel that will move the machine to do the work. Aside from that, this machine becomes the main attraction of MYTHRAL, where the guests can have a 360 degrees view of the machine while walking to the upper floors. (located on the void area)
